Wondering is 1st base open on sundays? The opening days and hours for 1st Base in Southampton city centre are not confirmed in the information behind this page, so the only reliable Sunday answer in 2026 is the one on the venue's own booking channels.
- Sunday opening for 1st Base is not confirmed on this page, so verify it before you travel in 2026.
- Check the booking channel for your exact date and time rather than relying on a listing.
- For a group, book a specific Sunday slot and get it confirmed in writing.
- 1st Base is an American-themed activity bar in Southampton city centre with a batting cage, shuffleboard, ping-pong and foosball.
Why this matters
Sunday is the day groups most often plan around: family outings, birthday afternoons, a catch-up before the working week. Turning up to a closed venue wastes the day, and a wrong Sunday time on a third-party listing is the usual cause.
That is why this page does not guess. A confident wrong answer costs you a trip into town. A verified answer costs you two minutes.
Is 1st Base open on Sundays?
Sunday opening is not confirmed here. Opening days and hours are not stated in the details available for this page, and a made-up time would be worse than none. Treat any Sunday time you see on an old listing or map pin as unverified until the venue confirms it for your date.
What is confirmed: 1st Base is an American-themed activity bar and interactive baseball batting cage in Southampton city centre. It runs games like shuffleboard, ping-pong and foosball, and takes group bookings for birthdays, stag and hen dos, corporate events and family outings.
Opening hours can also shift for private events, bank holidays and seasonal changes. That is true of most activity venues, so check the specific date, not just the day of the week.
How to confirm a Sunday visit in 2026
Follow these steps in order:
- Pick the exact date and start time you want. A vague "Sunday afternoon" is harder to confirm than "Sunday 14:00".
- Go to the official site. Start at the 1st Base homepage and look for the current opening information and booking options.
- Try to book that slot. If the booking system offers your Sunday time, that is your strongest signal. If it offers nothing, the slot is unavailable or the venue is closed.
- Contact the venue for group visits. For a party or team outing, ask directly about your date and get the answer in writing.
- Re-check the day before. Hours and private hires change, so a quick confirmation avoids surprises.
Which sources to trust for Sunday hours
| Source | Trust level | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Official booking channel | Highest | Confirming your exact date and slot |
| Direct contact with the venue | Highest | Group and private bookings |
| Official website | High | General opening information |
| Third-party listings and maps | Lower | Finding the venue, not confirming hours |
| Old social posts and reviews | Lowest | Atmosphere only, never timings |
The rule is simple: the closer the source is to the venue, the more you can rely on it.
Why Sunday hours vary between venues
Sunday trading is the least standardised day for city-centre venues. These are the common drivers:
- Shorter or later opening than weekdays and Saturdays.
- Private hires that take over the space for a birthday, corporate event or stag or hen do.
- Bank holiday weekends, which can change the pattern entirely.
- Seasonal schedules that differ between summer and winter.
- Staffing and event calendars that shift week to week.
- Out-of-date listings that still show a previous timetable.
Is Sunday a good day to visit 1st Base?
If Sunday is open for your date, it suits a relaxed visit. The mix of games works for mixed-age groups: you do not need to be a baseball pro to step up to the plate and smash that ball as hard as you can, and shuffleboard, ping-pong and foosball give everyone else something to play between turns.
Best for: families, birthday groups and friends who want a social activity rather than a long night out. Looking for ideas for the day itself? The family day out guide for Southampton weekends covers how to build a weekend around a visit.
Honest caveat: because Sunday hours are the least certain part of any venue's week, it is the day where an unconfirmed visit is most likely to go wrong. Book ahead rather than turning up on spec.
Can you book a birthday or group on a Sunday?
You can ask. Group bookings at 1st Base cover birthdays, stag and hen dos, corporate events and family outings, but whether a given Sunday is available is a question for the venue, not this page. Send your date, group size and the type of event, and ask for a written confirmation.
If it is a birthday, the birthday outing planning guide walks through what to settle before you book.
What if 1st Base is closed on your Sunday?
Have a fallback so the plan does not collapse:
- Move to Saturday or a weekday evening if your group is flexible.
- Ask about the nearest available slot rather than abandoning the idea.
- Keep the guest list informed so nobody travels on an unconfirmed time.
For groups on a tight date, the guide to booking a group event at a sports bar explains what to ask any venue before committing.
